My studio is based deep in the mean unforgiving streets of Lochgoilhead. A small village in Argyll on the West Coast of Scotland, it's mainly raining but we get sun for a few days of the year.
This whole thing started out as a full renovation company that had visions of world domination (seriously) and it was getting there (seriously, maybe, who knows, probably not) I had employees, great work, good contacts and doing all that business stuff that you think you should be doing. I found myself at the stage where I was constantly working, my hair was going grey and our three boys were growing up super fast. I spent a year or so wondering how I could work from home and get the life/work balance in some sort of order. Eventually I stopped work for a bit and we done some travelling. I got to know my wife and boys again. I was shit at surfing!
When we got back to the motherland I wanted to set up a small furniture making studio and really concentrate on the craft of it all. The plan was to work it alongside the renovation projects we do and spend the time needed to do things right. Since then we've been non stop, designing and building everything from our own furniture to the rooms you can see on the "Work" page. We've also been taking on commission pieces for private clients, designers and architects. It's been busy.
Who knows were it goes, the journey’s exciting and I'm still wondering how we're managing to make a living doing what we do.
Peace, love, and save the whale :)
